Quality education is the cornerstone for a successful community

A dedicated group of city leaders have a continued interest in the educational foundation of Tulsa. As a result, quality education is synonymous with the Tulsa region. More than 64 percent of Tulsa area residents have a high school diploma or higher, while nearly 26 percent have a bachelor's degree or higher.

Oklahoma also ranks No. 1 in the nation in early-childhood education, and the state and Tulsa area public schools are national leaders in the number of board certified teachers.

In addition to the Tulsa Public School system, private and parochial systems within the Tulsa metro area also offer complete PreK - 12 programs.

Other higher education institutions including the University of Tulsa, University of Oklahoma - Tulsa, Oklahoma State University - Tulsa, Oral Roberts University and Northeastern State University - Broken Arrow are all making continued capital investments on their campuses to improve programs for students.  Tulsa also boasts two prestigious medical schools and various public and private universities with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

As the cost of higher education continues to increase nation-wide, Tulsa area colleges and educational institutions have implemented programs to ensure that every high-school graduate has the opportunity to continue his or her education. The Tulsa Achieves, provided by Tulsa Community College, and Tulsa Tech Pathway, provided by Tulsa Technology Center, are two examples of scholarships that can financially assist students up to 100 percent in tuition costs.

Regardless of age or needs, Tulsa's range of education options offers students of all ages many opportunities to become educated.
